Our story

A recipe passed down, cup by cup

Tapee — also written Tepee, or Thephi in its approved English name — is a traditional Thai herbal drink. There is no single official formula: versions have been adapted over generations by region, family, and the plants growing nearby. Ours is blended in Thailand from 15 herbs, with Jewel Vine at its heart, and finished with warming spices like cinnamon, clove, and star anise.

Brewing guide

How to Prepare

  1. Start with hot water

Add one sachet or teabag to a cup of about 200 ml hot water.

  2. Sachet: stir

Empty the sachet in and stir until fully dissolved.

  3. Teabag: steep

Let the teabag steep for 2–3 minutes before drinking.

  4. Serve hot or iced

Add honey, lemon, or sugar to taste.

One sachet or teabag per cup, one cup per day. Strong herbal flavour — honey or lemon makes it easier to drink.

Questions, answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Tapee, Tepee, and Thephi the same thing?

Yes — they are different English spellings and translations of the same traditional Thai product type. The approved English name is “Thephi Herbal Drink”; “Tapee Tea” is the common trade name.

Is all Tapee Tea the same?

No. There is no single official historical formula — recipes vary by producer, family, and region, so blends differ between makers. Always buy from a producer you trust.

Does it contain caffeine?

Tapee Tea is a blend of herbs rather than tea leaves and is caffeine-free, so it can be enjoyed at any time of day.

How often can I drink it?

One sachet or teabag per cup, and no more than one cup per day. Herbal ingredients can interact with medicines and may not suit everyone — consult a physician before use, and stop if unexpected symptoms occur.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship from Thailand. Processing takes 1–3 days (most orders ship within 24 hours) and delivery takes 5–10 days, for a combined estimate of roughly 6–13 days, barring delays.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes, wholesale is available at discounted pricing. Contact us at support@coconutislandco.com.
